There are more options available now for heating your water in a more economical and environmentally friendly way.

Here are two options featured by local businesses at Grenlec’s recent Electrical Energy Efficiency Expos in Grenville and Carriacou.

Electric Tankless Water Heaters - also called inline, on-demand, or continuous - instantly heat water as it flows through the heating device, rather than heating and storing in a conventional hot water tank. You can install these units throughout your home or business at multiple points of use, including kitchens and baths. You save money and energy by only heating the water when you need it.

“We bring in tankless and inline shower heaters—for both single and central installations—they are a lot safer and energy friendly.”
-Christopher Salandy, The Wireman’s House

Solar Water Heaters use the sun’s energy to heat water. Available in a variety of styles, these units include a collector and a storage tank. Water is heated by sunlight hitting the solar collectors and then returning to a heated storage tank. Some solar water heaters have a shut-off valve that automatically closes when the sun goes down to save heated water.

“The Expo was a good idea. Many people are being exposed to energy-efficient products and services, and have an opportunity to be introduced to solar energy”
-Sharine Julien, EXLED Caribbean
