The GRENLEC Inter-Secondary School Debating Competition is a national championship open to all secondary schools in the state of Grenada. It is the biggest debating event in the tri-island nation consisting of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique and evolved from an initiative developed by the Media Workers Association of Grenada (MWAG) in 1996 and 1997 and sponsored by GRENLEC. In 2008, the Grenada Electricity Services Ltd. (GRENLEC) took ownership of the project, as the focus of its educational thrust. The company manages and sponsors the initiative as an annual activity.

MWAG continues to provide valuable support in the planning and execution of the project, which has the full endorsement of the Ministry of Education and the support of the Association of Secondary School Principals. Civil society and the private sector are also actively involved, through representation on the Resolutions Committee and the Judging Panel.
